The summer season is in full swing and that means swimming, BBQs, adventures, and lots of summer jams. We asked some of the Newz Group staff for their go-to songs this summer and compiled them into Spotify playlists for your listening pleasure.

I went through all the songs I have in my library and picked out all the ones that reminded me of summer or gave me a summery feeling.

Some might be a bit too on the nose (Looking at you and your Summer Girls, LFO.), but they’re all fun. Enjoy!

Goodness by Emancipator: good for work-flow especially at the beginning of projects.

Black Jesus by 9 Lazy 9 I just like this artist I would like to see them at a local music venue, seems like the type that would use a looper and just build, which I like.

Planetary Deadlock by Beanfield, this artist reminds me of two other favorites Emancipator and Zero 7.  Another good workflow tune.

Mr. Probz is one of my favorite recent musical artists and Drivin is a pretty good example of a soft jam vibe.  I love to hear the mixing of more traditional R&B with more contemporary instrumentation and effects.

Cause We Ended As Lovers is a standard guitar player line of demarcation and as such I love to hear new takes on Jeff Beck’s classic, Chieli Minucci does cover justice and more.

Maggie Rogers gets a best new artist in my book.  I was introduced as a result of sharing my musical tastes with my daughters.  If you have not seen the video of Pharrell Williams hearing this song for the first time with Maggie, it is pretty funny.

In the Waiting Line by Sophie Barker and Sweet Emotion covered by Leo Kottke pretty much bookend, musically, a post-covid continuing-covid whatever-covid playlist.

I have spent a lot of this summer out running, which means my playlist is super up beat and somewhat hip-hop heavy.  To keep things there are some mellower jams from the Pixie Chicks and Portugal the Man.
